Flights to the Amalfi Coast: which airport to choose and how to get there

The main airport for the Amalfi Coast is Naples Capodichino (NAP), 60-75 km from the coastal towns, with direct connections from all over Europe. Since 2024, Salerno Costa d'Amalfi airport (QSR) is also operational, just 25-35 km from the eastern side of the coast. From either airport, a private door-to-door transfer takes you straight to your hotel.

Which airport is closest to the Amalfi Coast?

The Amalfi Coast has no airport of its own: two nearby hubs serve it. Naples Capodichino (NAP) is the main one: over 100 direct destinations, full-service and low-cost carriers (ITA Airways, easyJet, Ryanair, Volotea and more) all year round, about 70 km from Amalfi. Salerno Costa d'Amalfi (QSR), reopened in July 2024, is closer to the eastern side of the coast: 25 km from Vietri sul Mare and 35 km from Maiori, with a route network growing especially in summer.

The choice is simple: if you find a direct flight to Salerno at convenient times, it is the fastest option for Maiori, Minori, Amalfi and Ravello. For everything else, Naples offers more flights, more schedules and generally more competitive fares.

How do you find cheap flights to Naples?

Naples is served by Europe's main low-cost carriers, so with a few tricks you can fly cheaply: book 2-3 months ahead for summer, compare fares from multiple airlines in a single search, and consider departing midweek, which is on average cheaper than weekends.

On Scoast's flight search portal you compare fares from hundreds of airlines to Naples and Salerno in one place, with no hidden fees, and book at the lowest price available for your dates.

How do you get from the airport to the coast?

From Naples Capodichino the options are: private door-to-door transfer (1h15-2h depending on destination, fixed price), train from Napoli Centrale to Salerno or Sorrento plus a SITA bus (2h30-3h30 in total), or seasonal direct buses to some towns. From Salerno Costa d'Amalfi, a private transfer reaches Maiori in about 35 minutes and Amalfi in 45 minutes.

With Scoast Transfers you book the transfer together with your flight: the driver tracks your landing time, meets you at the airport with a name sign and takes you straight to your hotel, with the price confirmed at booking.
